Hello, my name is Stephane and welcome to my little corner of the internet!
Nope, that’s not a misspelling, that’s really how my first name is spelled and it is pronounced, “Stephanie.”
My mom gave birth to me shortly after she’d immigrated from the Philippines to the US, and she wanted to give me an American name to mark the new chapter in her life. She got the name from actress Stefanie Powers (Hart to Hart was one of her favorite shows), but she couldn’t remember how to spell the name, so she guessed and “Stephane” was the result. Sometimes it’s annoying, but I’d never change it because I love the story. Plus, the unique spelling pretty much guarantees that it will be available as a user name whenever I sign up with a new social media platform.
I hail from Northern Nevada. I’m half Filipino and half white/European mutt. I’m a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno.
I’m a nonprofit professional with experience in volunteer management, community outreach, fundraising, administrative skills, and the use of technology in education. My long-term goal is to either work in a museum for work in public broadcasting; preferably public television, but I also love public radio (my first job ever was working for a public radio station).
I have an impressive collection of high heels, even though I don’t usually wear them. I simply appreciate the aesthetics of a beautiful shoe. I don’t watch scary movies. I prefer skirts and dresses over pants, though I seriously love jeans. I don’t think it’s possible for me to have too many scarves. Sudoku is my favorite game. Laundry is my favorite chore, but I always put off doing it because folding clothes is my least favorite chore. I also love makeup (especially nail polish and lipstick/lip gloss).
Myers Brigs tells me I’m an ENFJ and according to Astrology I’m an Aquarius; I find both of these assessments accurate, actually.
This blog is simply my online journal, where I will share my musings on any topic of interest to me. And I’m really quirky, so I’m going to cover a wide variety of topics.
I also love ideas and engaging conversation, so feel free to comment on my posts.
Thank you for visiting and happy reading!
